(Ivan Bautista)
Born in Oaxaca in 1987. He graduated from UABJO Oaxaca Art University.
He has exhibited around the world and was selected
for the 9th Kochi International Triennale in 2005.
He mainly uses humans as a motif and is modeled on people close to person.
He currently belongs to Burro Press with Edith Chavez and Alberto Cluz
and launched MINI PRINT in 2020.

「フリーダ・カーロやルフィーノ・タマヨだけではなく、
近年世界中で認知が高まっているメキシコのアート。

マヤ文明からの歴史があり、独特の混血文化や死生観が織りなすダイナミックな表現は、
現代でも壁画を始め絵画、彫刻、インスタレーションと若い作家達が凌ぎを削っています。

中でも版画はかつて北川民次や利根山光人がインスピレーションを受け、
メキシコに滞在し創作したほど、多彩なモチーフがあったようです。

おそらくその多くは現代でも濃く残るインディオ（先住民）の生活や慣わしだと推測します。

そこで必ず出てくるオアハカという土地の名。

先住民の割合が最も多いと言われるオアハカ州は、
昨年他界した美術家フランシスコ・トレドと現地で美術大学の学長を務める日本人作家、竹田鎮三郎の影響か、いつしかメキシコ各地から創作を志す若者が集まってくるようになりました。

トレドも竹田も作品は、オアハカに残る土着的な文化・日常が表現の根幹にあるでしょう。

この展覧会は、オアハカで活動する若手版画家たちの彼らが生きる日々をテーマにした
グループ展です。」



「光を求めてオアハカに辿り着いた版画家たち。豊穣の大地で、
日々目に映るインディオの習わしや暮らしを直感的に指先で表現する。

最古の印刷法である木版のモノクロームの奥に、
彼 (彼女）らが眼差しを向ける鮮烈な色彩と影の存在。
未だ旅に出るのが憚れる中、人は渡れずとも作品はやってきます。

かの地で述べ３年間にわたり作家達と交流を持ち、制作活動をした北山早智のディレクションで実現する
版画展「オアハカのグラバドーレス」
本人の作品含めメキシコの作家７名のエディションを展示販売いたします。」
